I will no longer be producing watch straps on a full time basis.

Those of you that know me and know the brand will know this decision has not been taken lightly.

I built up this small business from a single strip of Velcro back in 2005 when, before anyone else, I made the first ‘NASA’ straps for myself and then offered those to the public while building up my other unique strap designs. Although the business was never going to make me wealthy, it helped keep a roof over my head and bread on the table. However, more importantly, I enjoyed immensely what I was doing.

There are a number of factors for this decision in change of direction, but the main reason is that honestly, I’ve just lost the love! I’ve lost the love for making watch straps but not only that, I’ve lost the love for watches! I just don’t get the same buzz anymore.

I’ve been making watch straps since around 2005 and full time since 2012. In that time I’ve made literally 1000s of watch straps both for the general public and for established watch brands. Unfortunately the straps just don’t tax me mentally and I get no enjoyment like I used to from the process.

There comes a point in every mans life, whatever job he is doing when he has to assess his enjoyment / reward ratio. I’ve not been enjoying the straps for long time now so I’m leaving GGB full time to concentrate on other things.

So what will become of GGB ? Good question and one I don’t really know the answer to but there are some potential options. We shall see which way the wind blows.

The GGB brand and my strap designs must be worth something to the right person, after all, it has kept me in food and heat full time since 2012. There is no reason why a committed individual could not push the brand further. So potentially I would talk to someone should they wish to build on the brand and take it further.
